Should homosexuality be allowed in the church?

tumblr_mnhbm8Wsvt1qa467xo1_500With the recent iteration of the boy scot’s rules, allowing gay boys to become scouts, more are pushing for the acceptance of homosexuality in the church. Most churches are against this, with some fighting very hard at this. The common argument is that we are not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers (2 Corinthains 6:14). The question then is, if we prohibit these people from the church, how do they get ministered to and converted into Christianity? Indeed some are accepted as Christians. What will happen when they are allowed into all churches? Will they ‘convert’ more Christians to be like them? Is that wrong? That’s the essence of our discussion today. Should homosexuals, gays and lesbians be allowed in the church? Let’s get talking. Start with a comment below.

Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination. (Leviticus 18:22 KJV) In my opinion its an abomination

12 On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 13 But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’[a] For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

What you said is true, but its the sick who need the doctor. Moving them out of the church will only prevent them from being saved.

But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people. Ephesians 5:3

Let me point out that holiness is the result of a people who gather together and are transformed, it is not the state in which they come. I would rather see a church that focuses on what it means to be holy rather than one that fixated on specific sins. The reality is that our churches are populated by sinners, which is precisely the reason we need a Messiah. The congregation is where broken people come to be made whole, not where “perfect” people come to show off their goodness. If we identified everyone with a sin label in the same way we do with homosexuality, our churches would be empty and we would be failing in the call to make disciples.

So well said. God bless you!
